Germany, Luftwaffe. A 1942 Kiev Stuka Pilot Commemorative Plaque

(Stuka Plakette). A unique, field-made commemorative plaque to a Stuka pilot with Eastern Front service, consisting of a rectangular bakelite core painted in a sky-blue finish, the obverse bearing faint hand-painted white clouds, overlaid by a hand-cut and etched Stuka in mid-dive, situated about a small cloud of identical construction bearing an inscription of “KIEW 1942”, with transparent plexiglass covers secured in place with ten aluminum rivets at both the obverse and reverse, the reverse topped by a magnetic metal suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), with moderate scratching evident throughout the plexiglass, an interesting example in better than very fine condition.
