Germany, Luftwaffe. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, by Brüder Schneider

(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of nickel-silver and brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon and executed in the manufacturer’s classic chemically-oxidized finish giving the badge a striking patina, overlaid by a diving gilded brass Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a wide barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Brüder Schneider, Vienna, measuring 42.76 mm (w) x 53.36 mm (h), weighing 34.8 grams, in extremely fine condition.
