Germany, Heer. A Demjansk Shield

(Heer Demjanskschild). Constructed of silvered magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a pair of crossed swords, overlaying a plane and situated above a raised date of “1942”, topped by an inscription of “DEMJANSK” and a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn flanked by log pillboxes, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field-grey wool liner and intact paper backer, unmarked, the shield measuring 50.17 mm (w) x 91.88 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
