Germany, Heer. A Cholm Shield, Relic Condition

(Heer Cholmschild). Constructed of silvered magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching an Iron Cross defaced by a central swastika, situated above an inscription of “CHOLM 1942”, affixed with one intact reverse attachment prong to a field-grey wool backer, unmarked, measuring 39.64 mm (w) x 64.50 mm (h), in addition to the missing prongs the shield demonstrates oxidation through which has result in the loss of metal to the edges and deterioration of the wool backer, a relic example in poor condition.
