(Albrechtsorden, Grosskreuz/Komturkreuz Miniatur in Gold). Instituted 31 December 1850 by King Friedrich August II. (1851-1875). Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross with white enameled arms, joined together through the quadrants by a circular green enameled oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a Gold and rightward-facing profile of Duke Albert III, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE VALIANT”) with arabesques, the reverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a Gold and enameled Saxon coat of arms, within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “1850” with arabesques, topped by a crown suspension with a ring, unmarked, measuring 12.58 mm (w) x 23.90 mm (h), weighing 2.7 grams, in a high-quality example in extremely fine condition.
