Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Flak/Artillery Enlisted Personnel Tropical Field Tunic

(Waffen-SS Feldbluse für Mannschaften der Flak/Artillerie). A well-preserved Waffen-SS Flak/Artillerie Enlisted ranks tropical field tunic, constructed of a light khaki-tan cotton twill. It features a turned-down collar which transitions into double breast lapels emanating from a scalloped york overlaying the shoulders. The latter also features classic hollow channels through which are fitted straps constructed of black wool with field-grey wool underlays, trimmed with red piping. Each measuring 46 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), the straps are fastened in place with a pebbled magnetic button on the inner edge of both shoulders. The cuff of each sleeve has a vertical slit with a hidden buttonhole meeting to sturdy pressed card stock buttons for an adjustable fit. Stitched onto the upper left arm is a rank insignia consisting of a triangular black wool backer bearing two khaki-tan embroidered chevrons, indicating a rank of Rottenführer, measuring 90 mm (w) x 75 mm (h). Above the insignia is the unmistakable outline of an SS-style eagle insignia which has been carefully removed from the tunic with only minimal disruption to the base material. Four pockets are set into the breasts, all closing with horizontal flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes, in turn meeting pebbled magnetic metal buttons, with the shoulder yoke comprising the flaps of the top pockets. It closes with four pebbled magnetic metal buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior features two narrow pockets set into the lower half of each flap, and bears black ink size dimensions on the right. Otherwise unmarked, the tunic measures approximately 51 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 64 cm, and an overall body length of 70 cm when folded on a flat surface. In addition to the missing arm eagle the tunic demonstrates minor soiling and material fatigue to the base material. It remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
