Institution Date: January 29, 1856 during the Crimean War. In bronze, bearing inscription “FOR VALOUR” on the obverse, reverse inscribed “459” indicating the production number out of a 1352 medals that were produced, on period ribbon, measuring at 33mm (w) x 38mm (h), in original Hancocks & Co case of issue. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity by Hancocks & Co, 1849.
