Germany, Wehrmacht. A Pair of Service Badges

(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of three service badges, including:

 

1. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k rifle with the bayonet attached and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gottlieb & Wagner, Idar-Oberstein, measuring 46.20 mm (w) x 61.35 mm (h), weighing 28.0 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of silver finish with minor oxidation, in very fine condition.

 

2. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “127” for Moritz Hausch, Pforzheim, measuring 36.75 mm (w) x 44.36 mm (h), weighing 26.0 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of silver finish, in very fine condition.
