Bulgaria. A Pilot's Badge, c. 1940

Type II. (1921-1944). In silvered and gilt bronze, the pilots badge presents an eagle and a blue and bronze enamelled field displaying rays of sunlight, surrounded by a silvered wreath with a royal crown at 12 o’clock, and red enamelled shield at 6 o’clock with left facing rampant lion, reverse marked in cyrillic type with the Milosheva of Sofia maker mark and coded "3-23-89" on both the support plate and the screwback, measures 37.6mm (w) x 55.7mm (h), weighs 18.7 grams, screwback plate slightly bent, light wear, in very fine condition.
