(Orden de Isabel la Católica). Instituted in 1815. Multi-piece construction, obverse centrepiece insignia in silver with blue, green and white enamels, reverse centrepiece in silver with blue and white enamels and bearing the monogram of Queen Isabella in silver, the centrepieces mounted to a cross-shaped base in silver with red enamels on both sides, with five emanating rays between each arm of the cross and incorporating ball finials on all eight points of the arms of the cross, the base surmounted by a wreath in silver with green enamels, measuring 53 mm (w) x 78 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath suspension, repair evident in the white enamels on the centrepiece ring on both sides, crazing and fine chipping present on the red enamelled arms on both sides, fine chipping and repair in the green enamels on both sides of the wreath, on its original full-length neck ribbon but missing a tie at one end, fine.
Footnote: The Order of Isabella the Catholic was instituted on March 24, 1815 by Ferdinand VII. It is awarded for services of a civil nature that benefit the country, including to foreign diplomats, in five grades: Grand Cross with Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander by Number, Commander, Knight, plus the Silver Cross and the Medal of Isabella the Catholic.
