In silver, a white enamelled Maltese cross with ball finials, green enamelled oak/laurel leaf segments in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features the right facing portrait of Marianne surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE 1870, the reverse medallion with crossed French flags surrounded by a blue ring inscribed HONNEUR ET PATRIE, the cross is surmounted by a laurel and oak leaf wreath, marked at 6 o’clock on the ribbon tassels with a boars head denoting Paris manufacture from 1838-1962 with a silver fineness of 800, measures 40.7mm (w) x 58.8mm (h), weighs 18.6 grams, enamel chips to both the reverse and the obverse of the wreath between arms and the surmounting wreath, several small chips to the corners of several arms, remains in very fine condition
