(Ordre de Léopold / Leopoldsorde). Instituted in 1832. Type I (1832-1951). In 18K Gold with red, white, black and green enamels, weighing 26 grams inclusive of its ribbon, unmarked, type I with monogram on King Leopold I (LL RR I) on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 39 mm (w) x 65 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, intact enamels, large rosette affixed to its original ribbon with hook and eye, extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Leopold I was instituted on July 11, 1832 and is awarded for exemplary bravery in war and especially distinguished service to the Belgian state, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight; in Civil, Military and Maritime Divisions.
