Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, First Pattern

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath with cut-out edges, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 38.38 mm (w) x 43.70 mm (h), weighing 11.9 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish, a first pattern badge commonly awarded to Condor Legion personnel in better than very fine condition.
