Germany, Wehrmacht. An Azad Hind Silver Medal

(Medaille des Ordens Azad Hind in Silber). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised inscription of “AZAD HIND”, topped by a leftward-facing Bengal tiger and situated above a lily, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “INDIENS FREIHEITS-KAMPF” (“INDIA’S FREEDOM STRUGGLE”) set on a grid, topped by a pair of crossed swords and loop retaining a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.37 mm in diameter, weighing 22.4 grams, demonstrating minor tarnishing and loss of finish throughout, in better than very fine condition.
