Germany, SS. A 1939 Yule Festival Table Medal to Oberabschnitt Ost, by Deschler & Sohn

(SS Julfest 1939 Erinnerungsmedaille). Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised SS-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “JULFEST 1939” with oak leaves, the reverse bearing a raised dedication of “DIE SCHWARZE GARDE SS OBERABSCHNITT OST” (“THE BLACK GUARD OF SS MAIN DISTRICT EAST”), maker marked “DESCHLER & SOHN” for the famous Munich-based medal firm, measuring 55 mm in diameter and retaining an original wax paper liner, demonstrating minor oxidation to the obverse in extremely fine condition.
