Germany, SS. An Early Issue & Rare Officer’s Belt & Buckle in Nickel, by Overhoff & Cie
A fine example of a period-worn SS Officer’s belt and belt buckle. The buckle is constructed of stamped nickel, with a silver finish; the obverse consisting of a raised field depicting a wreathed static swastika that is held in the talons of an open-winged eagle, with a banner below reading “Meine Ehre heißt Treue”; the reverse marked “O.&C.” (Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid) and “Ges. Gesch.” on the reverse; measuring 49 mm in diameter; complete with its receiver and catch; the belt constructed of thick brown leather; unmarked; with two D-shaped metal clips attached to the belt via a leather loop; with an additional leather tab with seven rows of two vertically oriented holes for length adjustment of the belt; measuring 4.3 cm (w) x 110.2 cm (l); a worn example, with a greasy film on the leather; in overall near very fine condition.
