Spain, Facist State. A Rare Condor Legion Pilot's Cap, c.1938

Exterior in fine blackish-blue wool, with trim composed of two rows of light green embroidery flanked by two rows of fine gold-coloured bullion wire on both sides forming a large X-pattern on both sides of the cap, the trim secured in place to the cap by white threading, the front bearing the Condor Legion insignia with the condor in red and black embroidery in the centre, framed by wings in rolled silvered bullion wire and interlaced with fine silver threading giving definition to the wings, the Franco crown in rolled gold-coloured bullion wire with touches of red and green embroidery in the crown and red embroidery in its open area, with a six-sided star in fine silver-coloured wire with a green embroidered centre immediately below the wings, interior lined in finely-textured gold-coloured rayon, with a 25 mm wide leather sweatband, the upper in a pebble-textured cinnamon brown, with a raw underside, manufacturer emboss-stamped "ALIA NOVEDAD" on the right side, measuring 270 mm (w) x 115 mm (h), extremely fine.
