Austria, Imperial. A Miniature Chain of the of the Knight of the Order of Franz Joseph, by Rothe

(Miniaturkette der Ritter des Franz Josef Orden). In silver gilt, a small chain presenting thirteen alternating links between a red enamelled FJ and a crown on a white enamelled field, reverse of all links plain, two rings between each link, 12 thin O rings at one end, with a pinch C clasp on the other, measures 115mm (l – inclusive of all links), 225mm (l – inclusive of all links and rings), weighs 4.5 grams, marked on end ring with a silver hallmark denoting Austro-Hungarian manufacture between 1872-1922, enamel wear to white background on several links, clasp functional, remains in very fine condition.

Contained in original case of issue, brown pebbled exterior, interior lid marked ROTHE NEFFE WIEN, the interior base with a black velvet recessed bed, measures 154mm (w) x 60mm (l) x 15mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, remains in very fine condition.
