Bosnia and Herzegovina. A Gold Police Badge

In silver gilt, an eight point star with beaded rays, with extending points decorated with semi-precious stones (zirconia), the obverse features the state coat of arms featuring a diagonal line with three stylized lilies on each side, the reverse is hollow, the badge is suspended from a rectangular bar with a pebbled field and four semi-precious stones in the center, the reverse presents a pin and is marked S990 and SF denoting manufacture by the workshop of Fahrudin Softic of Sarajevo, measures 29mm (w) x 41.4mm (h), weighs 6.0 grams, a very rare decoration in near mint condition.

Footnote: The Golden Police Badge was established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina by issuing the Rulebook on Recognitions and Awards that is awarded by the Minister of Internal Affairs in Wartime Conditions.

The Golden Police Badge is awarded to members of the MUP of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who particularly distinguished themselves in armed opposition to the aggressor, contributed to the expansion of the free parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and performed several acts in which their personal courage and self-sacrifice stood out, and in which the aggressor was inflicted significant losses in personnel and material resources.

A total of 443 members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of BiH were awarded the Golden police badge, of which, 327 were posthumous.
