Luftwaffe Oberfeldwebel Pilot Uniform Removed Tabs - Yellow wool base, each with four stylized silvered aluminum eagle insignia, 37.7 mm x 54 mm, intact prongs, sewn to their original bluish-gray Luftwaffe uniform collar, with patterned silver bullion trim and yellow braid trim remaining in place, 75 mm x 87 mm and 76 mm x 101 mm respectively, residue on their reverses from previous board mounting, gilt wear on three of the eight eagles, extremely fine.Footnote: These were cut off the uniform of a Oberfeldwebel (Sergeant) Pilot's uniform, who was shot down on New Year's Day 1945, while straitting near a Command Post. It was documented by Lieutenant Richardson of the United States Army Air Force, with his personal notation stating "He never made it."
