Landesschützen Bataillon 605 Dedicated Long Bayonet - Nickel-plated hilt fittings show heavy use, and some damage (probably due to poor storage); stag grip plates are in good condition, with no cracks or chips. Plated blade is shiny and bright, and grades very fine plus; it is engraved on one side "Zur Errinerung an die 2.kp. /B.605"; blade is further marked, with maker's logo of E. & F. Hörster Solingen (sword within "H" double-oval trade mark); scabbard has been re-painted, post 1945 likely. In overall good condition. Footnote: The Landesschützen-Bataillon 605 was mobilized on 26 August 1939 in Frankfurt am Main, Military District IX; the battalion was set up by the Infantry Replacement Battalion 205. The battalion was transfered to Poland, in September of 1939. In December 1939, the battalion was moved to the West, and as of June 1940, the battalion was employed in France. There, the battalion was transferred to the Military Command in France. The battalion was employed in the Bordeaux region .
