A Most Superb Order of Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius

A Most Superb Order of Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius - constructed in Gold (bottom portion) and silver (top portion), 80.0mm x 75mm, weighs 43.4 grams, center enameled, the arms of the cross and the flames/lilies set with: 274 single cut and 5 (suspension) old European cut genuine Diamonds (total weight approximately 3.0 carats); also set with genuine Sapphires (5 round, 68 square/rectangular, kite and half moon cut/shaped), weighing approximately 7.0 carats in total weight; also set with 180 genuine Rubies (round, square, marquise, triangle cut/shaped), weighing approximately 10.0 carats; the reverse of this superbly made Order of St. Cyril and St. Methodius is also enameled, and set with 24 baguette cut and 7 round cut/shaped genuine Rubies, and also set with 60 single cut and 33 old rose cut genuine Diamonds. The most remarkable feature of this unique Order is the fact that nearly all Sapphires and Rubies were custom cut/shaped to fit this particular piece, an effort that must have taken many months to accomplish by the highly skilled artisans. The Order is unmarked, but most likely produced by an Austrian manufacturer, circa 1900. Absolutely superbly made and most prestigious Royal Bulgarian Order of highest rarity.
