Un-mounted, dark patina on the BWM, light contact, gilt wear on the VM, better than very fine. Footnote: Frank Ashby was born on March 13, 1893 in Wretton, Norfolk, England. He signed his Attestation Paper on September 28, 1917 at No. 1 Overseas Canadian Army Medical Corps Training Depot in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 25, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Walter Ashby of Wretton, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Baker.
