WWI 83rd Infantry Battalion Collar Badge - Browning copper, maker marked "ELLIS BROS. 1916" on the reverse, 29.5 mm x 29.7 mm, intact lugs, extremely fine.Footnote: The Battalion was raised and mobilized in Toronto, Ontario under the authority of G.O. 103A, August 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed April 28, 1916 with a strength of 35 officers and 1,081 other ranks under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel R. Pellatt. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 12th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
