A Native Chiefs 1885 Riel Rebellion Loyalty Badge - Silver and enamels, weighing 26.6 grams, marked "STERLING" and "REG'D'04" on the reverse, illustrating a front-facing head of a Native Chief, with feathered headdress, surmounted by a beaver with the Dominion of Canada coat-or-arms, illustrating the arms of Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island (the arms c. 1873-1905) below the beaver and above the Chief's forehead, 55 mm x 69.8 mm, vertical pinback, intact enamels, light contact, better than very fine. Footnote: It is believed that these badges were given by the Federal Government of Canada, to Native Chiefs who exhibited their loyalty to the government during the 1885 Riel Rebellion.
