Footnote: William John Maitland was born on October 6, 1899, the son of Malcolm John Maitland and Rachel Maitland (nee Loughrey) of London, Ontario. He was married to Lillian E. Maitland (nee Santo, 1900-1978) of London and was a Letter Carrier by trade before joining the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps. A.29496 Private William John Maitland, Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps died on June 17, 1946, at the age of 46, his death related to his war service. He was buried in London (Woodland) Cemetery, London, Middlesex County, Ontario, Grave Reference: Plot 138. Sec. M. South Grave. and is commemorated on page 587 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance
