A 1940's Berlin Charlottenburg State College of Fine Arts Award - Blackened iron, magnetic, obverse illustrating a German eagle standing proudly, its talons firmly entrenched in the upward facing belly of a winged British lion, the lion screaming in pain, the body of a French rooster lying beside the lion, engraver marked "BH" to the right of the eagle's wings, reverse inscribed "VERLIEHEN FÜR GUTE LEISTUNGEN BEIM STUDIUM 1940" (Awarded for Good Performance of Their Studies 1940) in the centre, the inscription "STAATLICHE HOCHSCHULE FÜR BILDENDE KÜNSTE" (State College of Fine Arts) above and "BERLIN CHARLOTTENBURG" below, coded in white ink "F. 1941/42." above the civic designation, 102 mm, light contact, extremely fine.
