A Wehrmacht RAD Service Photo Album - Leather-bound cover, originally with an embossed RAD insignia in the centre of a large swastika in the upper left corner, the colours of the insignia and swastika having worn off and been replaced by a thin layer of hand-painted white paint, entitled "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" (In Memory of My Service), inside cover with a Wehrmacht eagle over a tri-colour rondel side cap patch, framed by miniature ribbons of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, surrounded by ribbons for the East Medal, the Romanian Crusade Against Communism Medal and the Wehrmacht Long Service Medal with 3rd and 4th Class eagle clasps attached, containing thirty pages on a thick black paper stock with 115 black and white photographs, subheadings on many pages in white china marker, some of which have faded or have been erased, covering a variety of subject matter, illustrating soldiers and officers, in individual and group poses, at work, play and rest, preparing for bed, on review, at guard houses, in barracks life, performing every day activities, in construction crews, at camp sites, with artillery, cavalry on horseback, two photos taken in the woods with men in front of a stack of labelled metal cases, aboard trucks, trains, railway cars, at farms, viewing bombed out buildings, in the woods, in fields of snow, at graveyards, one of soldiers in Luftwaffe athletic tank tops, one of a well-attended party rally in an auditorium with party flags and a banner inscribed "Der Fuhrer ist Deutschland!" (The Fuhrer's Germany) on the wall, along with many more. The photos are held in place with the use of photo corners, the album bound by an olive green string fed through two drilled holes with reinforcing eyelets and tied in a knot at the front, measuring 228 mm x 323 mm x 23 mm thick, with only one vellum page remaining as the others have been lost to time, extremely fine.
