Footnote: Samuel Mulligan was born on October 2, 1882 in Peterborough, Ontario. He signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (506261) with the Canadian Engineers, on October 18, 1916, in Windsor, Ontario, at the age of 34, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Samuel Mulligan of Peterborough, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was Single and that his trade was that of Harness Maker. Mulligan was later transferred to the 21st Infantry Battalion and survived the war.
