Buckle in aluminum, silvered pebbled field, with gilded eagle affixed by two rivets in the center, 54mm x 49mm, First Pattern buckle displaying eagle with drop tail, unmarked; attached to a dress belt, constructed of finely ribbed aluminum brocade 45 mm wide, with two charcoal horizontal stripes and centering thin red line; all superimposed on a Luftwaffe grey cloth backing; one minor imperfection on the inside on grey cloth, overall in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
