Bahnpolizei (Streifendienst / Bahnschutz- 1933-1945), Leader’s buckle in stamped aluminum, 1939 Pattern, 51.1mm, with polished highlights, with very crisp details, marked on reverse with logo of Assmann company, along with “D.R.G.M.”, in virtually mint condition; with brocade belt (introduced in 1939), 45mm wide, constructed of interwoven aluminum flat wire, with two 5mm wide broken black stipes at the top and the bottom, and with broken central 5mm wide dark blue stripe (the slides are of identical pattern); with dark blue wool backing on reverse, grey leather tongue, and complete with silver hardware; an excellent example in hardly worn condition. Very scarce.
From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
