A Scarce Army/Heer First Pattern Belt Buckle; Reduced Size & Published

Buckle in die stamped aluminum, 60mm(width) x 43mm (standard Army buckles are approximately 48-49mm high), center faceplate affixed to pebbled field with two spot solders, eagle’s head facing to his right (first pattern), excellent crisp details, unmarked, in mint condition; an excellent, scarce example in top condition. (Illustrated on page 74 of Angolia’s book).

Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
