A Kriegsmarine Enlisted Man's Belt 1943

Belt in a thick leather with a smooth finished black upper and a smooth finished brown underside, emboss stamped "90" along with being hand scratched with a "K" inside an octagon beside the number at the right end, hand scratched with the number "1708" in the middle on the underside, smooth finished dark brown leather tab stitched in place on the underside at the right end, the tab with seven rows of two holes each for length adjustment, emboss stamped where the belt wraps around the magnetic silvered receiving clip at the left end with the maker mark, which has faded with age, but the date "1943" with an "M" below the date remaining quite legible, the belt measuring 44 mm x 975 mm. Light contact evident on both the upper and underside, crazing present on the tab. Extremely fine. Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
