An Army Officer's Brocade Dress Belt with Buckle by F.W. Assmann & Söhne; Published

Buckle in silvered aluminum on the right end, maker marked with the stylized Assmann "A" (F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid) on the hook on the reverse, illustrating a right-facing eagle with its talons clenching a swastika, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns with a ribbon at the base, the buckle measuring 50.3 mm. Belt with fine aluminum wire and two rows of green embroidery on the upper, interlaced with white threading, moss green cotton sides and underside, thick smooth finished butterscotch-coloured leather tab stitched in place on the underside on the left end, the tab with ten rows of two holes each for length adjustment, matching receiving clip on the left end, two sliders on the belt with matching uppers and backers, one of the sliders with an extended cotton tab, the belt measuring 47 mm x 865 mm. Extremely fine. This particular belt and buckle is illustrated on page 85 of "Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich, Revised Edition" by John R. Angolia and came from his personal collection.
