A textbook early manufacture Kriegsmarine “Schnellboot Kriegsabzeichen” in silvered and gilded tombac; the obverse constructed of a gilded oak leaf wreath with a national eagle with spread-out wings on the top clutching a mobile swastika, and a ribbon on the bottom, with an E-Boat cutting through a series of waves (of note are the trademark first pattern waves), extending past the border of the badge; the reverse plain, with a vertical needle style pinback, barrel hinge, a flat wire catch and a hook on-top of the badge for stabilization; maker marked “Schwerin, Berlin 68” for “Georg Schwerin of Berlin”; measuring 57.07 mm x 44.80 mm; weighing 28.7 grams; the swastika on the badge slightly damaged, but in overall near mint condition with nearly all of its original gilding remaining.
