20th Halton Rifles Cap Badge -  c. 1922. 39 mm x 51 mm, in silver, intricate detail, high, in very fine condition.Footnote: The Militia Company in Georgetown was created as a Volunteer Militia Company of Infantry sometime between 1856 and 1863. The Company was not Part of a Battalion. During the Fenian Raids, the Company was sent to protect the Niagara area. This Company would become D Company of the 20th Halton Battalion of Infantry in 1866. C Coy was part of the 20th Halton Rifles who became the Lorne Rifles (Scottish) before they joined with The Peel and Dufferin Regiment to become The Lorne Scots in 1936. The 20th Halton Rifles sent three Battalions to war during World War I. The Lorne Scots served as HQ defense Platoons for each Brigade during World War I. After World War II The Lorne Scots provided soldiers for NATO and UN missions and Operations.
