This knife measures 255 mm in length with the scabbard on, with a magnetic steel blade, maker marked with the Anton Wingen Jr, Solingen standing knight insignia on the obverse ricasso, marked with the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) insignia and marked "M7/51/38" on the reverse ricasso, with a sharp blade and semi-sharp tip. Blade exhibits faint scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, and a natural shine, along with some surface wear, rust evident where the blade feeds into the handle, the blade measuring 27 mm x 140 mm. Buffer pad has been lost to time, nickel-plated hilt fittings with embedded black celluloid plates on either side held firmly in place with two rivets, the obverse plate with an enamelled HJ insignia, scattered flaking of the nickel plated finish and contact marks, wear evident on the handle's spine, all metal fittings are magnetic, the knife measuring 248 mm in length overall. Magnetic steel scabbard painted in the traditional black look, conjoined initials "HK" scratched in on the reverse, wear and contact marks evident on the finish from active use, original smooth finished black leather belt strap attached via two large rivets, reinforcing strap at the top with snap closure, leather remains relatively supple with light crazing and one small tear in the reinforcing strap. Very fine.
