In case of issue, measuring 47 mm, this order is bronze with an oxidized silver eagle holding a sword in its talons and the Estonian coat-of-arms, three blue lions on a gold shield, in the centre of the cross. The arms are enameled in black on both sides, as is the reverse centre piece, which itself is marked "24 II 1928", the date of the founding of the order. There is a Latin inscription, PRO PATRIA, on the three upper arms on the reverse. The order features crisp detail and comes with a vintage ribbon. Enamel damage on the lower arm on the reverse, light wear overall, in very fine condition. The hard shelled case is unmarked on the exterior, with a maker mark seal on the inside lid: ROMAN TAVAST V.Roosikrantsi 6 TALLINN and a recessed medal bed, missing clasp on closure, light wear, in better than very fine condition. Footnote: The order was founded on February 24, 1928, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Estonian Republic. It was established by the Government for services in the interest of national defense, in five classes. It could be awarded to Estonian citizens as well as to foreigners.
