Steel helmet with a rolled edge, magnetic, original apple green exterior was been painted over with a khaki-colour in the field, left side exhibiting the Army (Heer) eagle, the insignia partially visible through the khaki-coloured brush strokes, with hollow rivet ventilation holes on either side. The inside comes complete with its original eight-panel leather liner, each panel with five ventilation holes, plus its original drawstring fed through a sixth hole at the end of each panel, each with a circular reinforcement on the underside. Original two-piece dark brown leather chinstrap has experienced separation near the rusting metal buckle, and is affixed to the liner's steel frame on either side, the helmet with its original pins holding the frame, the one on at the left front slightly loose. The underside of the skirt is maker stamped "SE64" on the left side and stamped with an indistinguishable code beginning with a "3" at the rear, the helmet measuring 230 mm x 285 mm x 150 mm in height. It exhibits extensive paint scuffing and loss on the exterior, exposing the underlying original apple green colour and the raw steel of the helmet, the leather liner exhibiting extensive soiling and wear from active use.
