Item #G24597
A Hitler Youth Member’s belt buckle, published on page 273 of John R. Angolia’s “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”; in stamped steel and aluminum paint; with eagle with down-turned wings perched atop a HJ diamond, surrounded by a circular border inscribed with the HJ motto “Blut und Ehre” (Blood and Honour); as Angolia notes in his book, this is likely a late-war production notable by the welded claws on the roller bar; maker marked “RZM M5/276” (Klein & Quenzer AG., Oberstein a. D. Nahe) - Angolai notes that M5 is a metal parts designation and not the normal “M4” for buckles; measuring 64 mm x 48 mm; some paint wear but otherwise very fine condition.
Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
