A Land Custom Official Dagger of outstanding workmanship by Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen; measuring 421 mm with the scabbard on, this dagger features a exceptionally preserved un-sharpened 255 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade; with a very sharp tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked “Paul Weyersberg & Co., Solingen” with the company’s sword and oak leaves wreath insignia. The blade exhibits minimal and miniscule scratches common to extraction and return to the scabbard, with a double-edged flattened diamond blade. The thin brown leather blade washer remains fully intact and attached to the dagger underneath the nickel plated aluminum crossguard. The obverse of the crossguard features a NSDAP eagle clutching a wreath with a swastika in the center. The dark green carved wood grip shows very minimal signs of wear, but is overall exceptionally well preserved, with eleven rows of wrapped twisted wire. The nickel plated aluminum pommel is also well preserved, and shows only light patina. The scabbard is constructed of an iron base (magnetic), with polished firmly attached aluminum fittings and a green leather covering - all without any significant signs of wear. The portepee is fabricated from fine aluminum bullion wire; the head in multiple rows of innate twisted wires; the center of the head in loops matching embroidery; the stem in a thatched design; with long fine aluminum wire cord tightly wound around the scabbard and pommel of the dagger. Mint condition.
