A Reichsluftschutz Bund (RLB) dagger by Paul Weyersberg; measuring 365 mm with the scabbard on, this dagger features a well preserved but oily unsharpened 220 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade; with a semi sharp tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked “Paul Weyersberg, Solingen” with the company’s insignia. The blade is diamond shaped and exhibits scratches common to extraction and return to the scabbard on both sides of the blade. The thin black felt blade washer remains fully intact and attached to the dagger. The black wooden grip shows no fading from age, and is overall very well preserved without cracks and only some contact marks and light signs of wear, decorated with a second model RLB insignia subburst swastika with some chipping of the black enamels. The gilded crossguard exhibits an eagle clutching a swastika medallion.The pommel is gilded with some signs of fading. The scabbard is painted black magnetic steel with a gilded tip with moderate contact marks, with a dagger hanger that has become separated from the scabbard and lost through time. Mouth of the scabbard held in place tightly by a period screw. Overall better than very fine condition. (C:49)
