Alexander is shown is shown on the roll of the 120 man St. John Volunteer Battalion and is listed on page 252 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented as having been posted to St, John, St. Andrews and Campobello, New Brunswick from March 17 to June 20, 1866, with an "attack expected".
