A Foreign Legion Lieutenant’s Kepi

A traditional (1940’s-1980’s) French Foreign Legion Kepi; band constructed of black wool with gold bullion wire seven-flame grenade and non-period gold bullion chin strap on front half attached on sides by non-period golden buttons;two gold bullion loops on top section of band; crown crafted out of red wool with single gold bullion austrian knot braid in the centre with single gold bullion loop around outer edge of crown; visor made out of black Vulcanfibre with brown leather sweatband and wine-red velvet lining on the inside and plastic sweat “diamond”; no maker markings; 18 cm inside diameter, 10.2 cm tall; Leather sweatband slightly shows considerable wear and has mostly come off the kapi, overall fair condition.
