In stamped aluminum, 60 x 40mm, poor. Footnote: STALAG VIII C / 5284. Stalag VIII C was located in Sagan, in modern Poland, adjacent to Stalag Luft III of”Great Escape” fame. After the Invasion of Poland, it was filled with Polish Prisoners, who shortly after lost their status as POWs and were sent to Labour Camps in violation of the Geneva Convention. In 1940 it was filled with French and Belgian prisonners from the Western Campaign. The numbers were bolstered after the Wehrmacht Invasion of the Balkans.
