An Excellent German & Croatian Bravery Document to SS-Sturmmann in Yugoslavia

Award certificate of bronze bravery medal in German & Croatian, measuring 21.1 x 17.1 cm. A bilingual award certificate in German and Croatian. It states that SS-Sturmmann (stormtrooper) Johann Wesner is awarded the Bronzene Tapferkeitsmedaille (bravery medal in bronze), because he lead his men by leading the charge, and during operation “Kugelspitz” he was the last to leave his position. Operation “Kugelspitz” was part of the German effort in fighting General Tito and the partisan movement in Yugoslavia, in which partisans were fought in Bosnia to keep them from entering into Serbia. The medal is awarded on Jan 1st, 1944. The certificate is signed by the division commander, SS-Oberführer (senior leader) Otto Kumm. Otto Kumm (1909–2004) was a recipient of the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. The same day the bravery medal was awarded to Wesner, he became the commander of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen. Later he commanded the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler.
