In zinc; the obverse stamped with “173 SS-Totenkopf Rgt. 4” on both sides of the triple slotted center; reverse left blank; three drill holes with a piece broken off by the double drill hole side; measuring 71 mm x 50 mm; surface wear but otherwise better than fine condition. Footnote: The SS-Totenkopf Standarte 4 Ostmark was formed in Mauthausen near Linz, Austria, in September 1938. The SS-Sturmbann Götze was attached to the Standarte later the same year, but was made an independent unit in 1939. Ostmark 4 was transfered to Prague in October 1939, and then to Holland in June 1940. It was renamed to SS-Infanterie-Regiment 4 Ostmark February 1941 and attached to the 2nd SS-Infanterie Brigade.
