A Wehrmacht Heer (Army) M43 Officer’s Field Cap

A well preserved Officer’s M43 Field Cap (Einheitsfeldmütze) constructed of beautifully textured army “Feldgrau” wool. On the crown of the cap is silver bullion piping indicative of an officer rank. Towards the front is a machine embroidered grey Army eagle and a tricolour (black-white-red) tricolour trapezoid. The insignia is original to the cap and appears to be machine stitched to the cap. The skirt arms display the usual square-ended pattern, and are secured at the front of the cap with two silvered pebbled aluminum buttons. In addition, the cap also features a cardboard-reinforced visor at the front. The interior is lined in grey rayon with a brushed khaki-coloured leather sweatband towards the front section, inscribed “Qualitäts Marke” (Quality Brand). The cap measures 280 mm x 200 mm and is generally well preserved, with minor mothing, a small rip in the leather sweatband (also starting to come loose), and a rip in the fabric on the edge of the rear of the cap.
