Footnote: Christian Tychsen (1910–1944) received his Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross for his role in the fighting around Kharkov during Operation Barbarossa in early 1943. At the end of the year, he received the Oak Leaves as well, for being able to prevent a Russian break through his lines.
