Gilt metal eagle above a gilt metal half-wreath, surmounted by a gilt and silvered metal crown, the voided area of the crown in maroon felt, with touches of red, green and blue enamels in the base of the crown, black wool base, black cloth backer with a maker's stamp in white ink and inscribed "J.R. GAUNT & SON LTD. LONDON", 69 mm x 72 mm, black cloth backer coming away from the body of the badge and exposing the underlying orange hessian fabric support, near extremely fine.
